New Donkeys Join Our Family

A recent trip through WV ended up in neighboring Ohio where we bought two new additions to our donkey herd. We were excited to not only find a new spotted jennet, but a handsome jack that is exactly what we were hoping to one day find!

After the long drive from OH back to AL, with the pain of several stops to fill our truck (ouch), all is well and the new donkeys have settled in beautifully. Our little Izzy has bonded with Ginger and they are now inseparable. It is so much fun to watch the young ones explore, eat and run together. Both are newly weaned, so the timing was just perfect. Our new jack has been checking the place out and is the center of attention from our jennets, gelding and our jack, Crockett. There has been a whole lot of "talking" going on, some of it at night! But, things are beginning to quiet down and soon everyone will fall into their little routines and friendships.
It would be nice if humans could adapt to change as well as these little donkeys, maybe we could learn a thing or two from them, with the exception of the braying.
